Research Standards: How We Verify Tablet Program Info

How Free Tablet Benefit researches and verifies low-income tablet program information in 2026, including primary sources, review cadence, and AI usage rules.

Last updated: 2026-05-20

Why research standards matter

Low-income tablet and connectivity programs change frequently. The Affordable Connectivity Program ended in 2024, Lifeline rules are updated periodically by the FCC, and provider device availability shifts every quarter. Our research standards exist so readers can trust what they read here in 2026.

Source hierarchy

  1. Primary government sources first, including FCC, USAC, and state benefit administrators.
  2. Official program portals like LifelineSupport.org and the National Verifier.
  3. Provider-published service plans, terms of service, and device pages.
  4. Reputable secondary coverage only when primary sources are unavailable.

What we never do

  • Claim a program is active when it is not, including ACP.
  • Promise approval or a guaranteed free device.
  • Use logos or names that imply official government endorsement.
  • Publish provider partnership claims that do not exist.
  • Use AI to fabricate eligibility rules, prices, or provider names.

Use of AI tools

We may use AI assistants for drafting and editing support. Final eligibility, deadline, and program-status claims are always verified by a human editor against primary sources before publishing.

Fact checking

Every guide includes a last-updated date. Reviews are scheduled at least quarterly for active program guides and immediately after any major rule change. When we cannot verify a claim, we remove it.

Reader reports

Readers can flag inaccuracies or suggest source updates by emailing corrections@freetabletbenefit.com. Verified issues are corrected and dated.

FreeTabletBenefit.com is an independent informational resource. We are not the FCC, USAC, Lifeline, ACP, any carrier, or any device manufacturer. Eligibility and device availability vary by provider, location, inventory, and current offers. Free or discounted tablets are not guaranteed.
